If you’re reading this in the morning or afternoon, imagine me with an iced chai. Like coffee is great and all but chai? Delectable. If you’re reading this in the evening, turn that chai into a sensible whiskey sour and let’s hang.

First thing you should know is that I made this imaginary get-together a one-on-one chat because I much prefer a long, quiet conversation over a crowded room full of chatter. Too much small talk spends all my energy, but I love having a true exchange with someone about things that matter.

Second thing you should know is  that I love to learn from everything that I possibly can. That’s actually something I return to when I need a reminder that this is the right industry for me. Whether on set or on stage or in a creative room, there’s always something new to learn from every experience and that keeps me excited. I try to approach everything I do as a learning opportunity, because it takes the pressure off of being perfect. If I give myself and those around me the grace to be learning, it makes everything less intimidating and more exciting.

Another personal tenet of mine is to enter every room with nothing to prove and nothing to hide. Maintaining that mindset releases me from both the insecurity of needing to convince anyone that I'm anything more than I am, and the reservation of feeling like I need to discredit any parts of myself to fit in. I am here fully as who I am with the skills that I have and I'm ready to work generously from there. The goal is to give and receive ideas without my ego attached and create space for others to feel comfortable working generously from their whole selves as well.

Now I may be biased, but I think I've got a lovely array of skills to offer, beyond even the soft skills of attentive story crafting, tenacious learning, and getting along with people. I've collaborated on new theatre work, I've performed with a folk band, I've written a one-act play. I’ve done some work music directing, songwriting, and arranging. I play piano. I grew up singing four-part hymns at church and family reunions, switching between alto and soprano depending on which was more interesting, and sight-reading the tenor line when I got bored of that. I also play the ukulele, and have sufficient skill with an accordion or a harmonica or a tin whistle if the project calls for it.

About my tiktok! When the pandemic hit and life shut down, I spent a lot of time analyzing the television I watched - watching and rewatching scenes, studying the actors' choices, figuring out why I liked their work if I did and coming up with alternate ideas if I didn't. I found myself learning lots of useful lessons and I started making tiktoks as a way to condense and collect the things I was learning, and I had a great time! Lately I've been intentionally spending less time online and it's been a while since I've made any new content, but every now and then a stranger will tell me they used to watch what I made and it always makes my day.

Last but of course not least - the other things that make me human! Little College Britt thought she had to spend every second of her time working on her career but I am now proud to announce that I have hobbies! Whenever I can, you'll find me playing Dungeons & Dragons, training towards my acrobat aspirations, cooking healthy food, singing with my barbershop choir, and working on learning spanish. I also write songs when the fancy strikes me, and one time I traveled the states for two months with a friend, living out of a car and visiting 14 national parks as we went.

Before I close, I think it's crucial to acknowledge my privilege as a white person. I've been afforded opportunities that many have had more difficult access to. In each space I enter, my hope is to do what I can to support equity and continue the process of learning how I can best be an ally to those facing discrimination of all kinds.

That’s probably enough for now. I’ve done my best to pour who I am into this so that you can get a read on whether we’re on the same wavelength or not. I think the intangible way that some peoples’ essences just click is significant when it comes to making art together. I’m just out here looking for those people.
